It came off today, quite easy apart from getting the 13mm nut off. After 10 mins of trying to get purchase on it from below i managed to face it north and attack it from above

 

I had to remove the oil filter and slip off 2 pipes but it then came out quite easily. Much easier than removing all the inlet manifold, and no need to remove the alternator
