Chip Upgrades

Recommended Posts

I've been working on this for some time, trying to develop a replacement chip to suit my Stage I inlet cam. Very encouraging results for 139 and 158/161 ECU's . Less so for 354/355 ECU's, where the mapping is already very good. However, the extended rev limit is fantastic!

Would you class 7500 safe for a standard engine with just a different inlet cam for competition use? I seem to recall reading that the 4wd 405's revved to 7400 anyway compared to the 7200 for the 2wd's so its probably fine.

Any ideas on prices for these? I have a bbr star chip somewhere that I got for £20 off ebay before but it retains standard rev limit so without trying on a rolling road its difficult to see if theres any difference without going out and doing some timing on a quiet road

edit: Ignore the above, except the price bit, just read your cam timing page

Shame you couldn't have done a dyno run with a 139 really to show a graph of improvement there, though I can understand that because it would have meant changing looms.

I work that out at 129hp at the wheels, what does that make it at the crank?

On the same dyno, a GTi180 does 95-97kW. A GTi6 does around 88kW.

So it's looking to be around the 175-180 mark then, which is pretty good!

Any idea on price?
