Ns Wheel Catching Gearbox On Full Lock

Its a 1.6 box on s16 engine, is this normal to catch on gearbox on near full lock?

i don't think it is. what wheels, sus etc are you using?

I think its quite normal, as in its not unusual for it to happen not that its right in any way.

 

what you might find is that one track rod has been set longer than the other, hence the wheels go further on right lock, even if the steering wheel is centered.

 

bear in mind that it doesn't take much to make a tyre rub there as its very close anyway, I found that 195's rub but 185's didnt.

 

one thing also worth checking is the gearbox mounting, the mounting itself is slotted so the engine can be over to one side up to 15 mm IIRC, this was enough to stop mine from rubbing as much.

Get the toe out on turns checked by some one with good wheel alignment equipment just to be sure,the wheel shouldnt rub on anything at all,poss Mot failure too.

1.9gti wheels 195 tyres, i will check track rods and mounts cheers guys
