309 Gti Wishbones & Resulting Tracking

Recommended Posts

Mac210882

I fitted a set of 309 GTi wishbones yesterday and drove to the local tyre place to see if I could get the tracking done. What became immediately obvious was how far it was out, the car was wandering all over the place and I had all on just to keep it central on the road!

How far out does fitting the longer arms push the tracking? It felt horrendous!

Secondly, the place I went to claimed they couldn't do the tracking as my car was too low, their equipment rests on top of the front tyre to get a reading and they couldn't physically get it between the tyre and the wheel arch :(

GRRRRRRRRR

The 309 wishbones push the tracking to toe out, quite a lot.

If you want I can track your car for you as you are not far away. My gauges will fit on as they push up against the wheel rims.

Here is when I did my own 205 a few weeks ago.

after fitting mine my tyres were scrap after about 200miles as i didn't get the tracking done, and was looking ok by eye after adjusting the tre's by about a cm.
