Water Temperature Sender/gauge Problem

Recommended Posts

kenan

I believe there is a problem with my water temperature sender or gauge. I thought the car was overheating but now believe it is reading the incorrect temp. You start the car and the temp gauge moves near to the first mark?

Where is the sensor on the engine? is it the same one as for the ECU? Any easy way to test where the fault is?

its a separate one to the one for the ECU.

what year is the car as its position varies a little IIRC, there are 2/3 on the thermostat housing, one for the gauge and another for the little red light

Right just checked it and the needle moved from stationary to the middle point of the first two notches. Is this correct/incorrect, I assume this is incorrect for a cold engine
