Intermittent Ignition Issue - When 2 Doors Are Opened!

Recommended Posts

stufarri

Hi hope someone can help.

Every few weeks if I open the boot or the passenger door before deactivating the immobiliser the car will not start for approx 15 mins - ARGH  !!!

Someone at the PSOOC meet suggested a capacitor on the starter is the problem and someone I know recommended getting a diesel battery fitted to overcome the problem , I'm not sure if either will help - Any ideas?

I realise that it may be the immobiliser which is the issue too.

Thanks

Stu

Simes

I had an issue a while back where when opening the doors prior and turning the ignition on all power died. Was very bizarre.

Disconnected the ignition amp and reconnected and it worked fine.

The first things I would check are the door and boot pins. If they aren't making a proper contact, perhaps this is confusing the alarm/immobiliser. If it is an alarm unit, and not just an immobiliser, then arm it and open each door to make sure he alarm siren gos off. If not, pull off the pins and clean the contacts.
