A Little Help

Recommended Posts

i have only recently joined this forum this is my first gti that was originally a 1.6 with a 1.9 engine

i have recently aquired a donar engine off a friend that i will be stripping and rebuilding i am planning on running a rally cam with r1 carbs and headwork also replaceing most components

just wondered what sort of bhp i would be running

also just brought some 1.9 calipers and hubs to upgrade car but now wondering if 1.9 brakes would be enough stopping power for the donar engine

and also the 1.9 that is in the car runns a little rough from cold does not want to idle from cold just dies till it is warm

so today i went to shanpar a specialist in 205 he said it could be the sad or the vacuum compensater

just wondered what you guys thought

also idles between 1000-1500 when warm

are 205 1.9 gti shafts the same as 309 1.9 gti shafts also will the standard 1.9 brakes be sufficient for donar engine

iirc they are different?

you would prob be running about 150bhp and could put some uprated disks and pads or put some 306 brakes on.

Hodgy off here is running a very similar engine, R1 carbs and something like a 300deg cam, as for brakes he's just got mintex pads with standard everything else and doesn't seem to have any complaints.

If you have 309 shafts ten definitely use them, you will also need the 309 wishbones as well though. Imo one of the best mods you can do to a 205. I think with decent pads and disks your brakes will be ok, its always nice to have some bigger ones though!
