Engine Mapping

Recommended Posts

309PUG

Have done a search which through up a couple of sugeestions of where to take my 8v for a re map, but I have been drawn to a couple of other companies, anyone had any experience with the list below be it good / bad / indifferent ????

Ric Wood - Cheshire

Motorscope - North Allerton

Northampton Motorsport - Err Northampton

Any feedback of the above or below would help.

Also on the list are Mikeanics and Chip Wizards, I am familiar with Mikeanics capabilities but not so of chip wizards.

Another year has almost gone so has anyone used any of the above over the year.

not too hot on my English geography Daza but Powerstation cant be too far away for you?

they did the mapping work on Jon Murgie's 205 if you remember, best setup I've ever seen (i.e BLOODY COLD!!)

in theory any mapper can map any system, but they all have their favourites.

Has anyone used longmans for mapping? I had my car rolling roaded there before and the service was absolutly top class! will contact them in the new year.

Yes welshpug powerstation are pretty close. But I'm not to keen on them myself. I felt they werent to interested unless you had a lot of money to spend ......... with them. just my personal opinion. but thats how I felt the last time

Ric Wood - Cheshire

A friend of mine has had a couple of engines built and mapped by Ric Wood, they are both bloody amazing and he seems very very pleased with Ric after he had problems with other engine builders.

If you don't have the management yet, what about Emerald + Dave Walker as a combo?

No, they were Ford Essex V6 engines which admittedly is Ric Woods speciality (he manufactures his own alloy cylinder heads to replace the standard cast iron ones!) but he is more than just another engine mapper, I'd be happy to take any engine there.

I live right round the corner from rick woods and he always seems to be busy with a good selection of very impressive cars outside. :P

Ive not had any work done myself as yet but my mate had a bit of trouble with his Capri's engine rebuild something to do with compression i think after head work was done.

My pug will be going there for a map when i finally get the engine in. B)

Are you just giving him your engine, I didnt think rick had a rolling road, only an engine dyno. Im probably wrong. I got introduced to all the guys that work there through a mate and the technology that that shop has and the things they are capable of is amazing. They seem very profesional and technacly advanced. The dyno room was immaculate. Cheers phil

From experience dont use northallerton. Recently Ive heard lot of complaints and Im sure if you contact chris417mi he will tell you the full story.

If you want someone very highly reccomended and also very reasonably priced contact automark in stokesly. Hes booked well in advance but is worth waiting for.

What about Nobles of Chersterfield? They are DTA specialists iirc.

I haven't been back to Chipwizards for over a year now but I've now complaints with Waynes work on my car.

Once I get my next 205 built, wired up & running it'll be going back to him for mapping.

Chirs, Stokesly is in North Yorkshire, just south of Middlesborough, click here

Nobles....

I live 1 mile from nobles , they are ok , but if anything goes wrong , watch them run .

Thats why if i need a remap , i'll be travelling the 360 round trip to emerald again.

Nobles - hmmmm will not take my car there if they paid me, had no good feedback of them, also know someone who worked there and then retired and even he said don't take your car there, gone down hill since original Mr Noble retired.

Anyone been to Northampton Motorsport ???

OK, I wasn't aware that Mr Noble had left since Martin (crf450), NickR & Mark (Blackscooby) took their cars there.:)

From what you've said there is plenty of reason not to go there if they have truely gone downhill so much since then.

I know of a few people that have had work done there, mapping wasn't brilliant from what I could gather.
