has anyone on here ever made the own baffled sump for a 205? or know were i can find a guide to make one?

I've had a look around and they seam to sell for £100+ which seams like a hell of a lot of cash when i got a spare standard sump kicking around if the job is faily simple.

i bought a 306 gti 6 sump which is already baffled for my mi16 engine for much less than £100.

Might need someone else to confirm this, but that sump should be a straight swap on the 8v engines aswell. I do remember however someone posting pics of a home made baffled 8v sump.

Okay, getting interesting now, however, I don’t have a) a mig welder or  the ability to use a mig welder but otherwise I see where you are coming from.

The first but probably not the last of my stupid questions but what theories are you working on when deciding which bit of metal goes where. I know I want to eliminate oil starvation but how do I go about it.

If I understand what I am trying to achieve I could always get a grown up to wield it for me.

I dropped physics as school too...

whats physics ? haha

a copied a disign which is easy to do, because you can see where it all fits in from the bolt holes..

you start the vertical bits first then add the rest

The bottom one is useless, just a bad copy of the XU10 sump version, The PTS baffle or the French trap door system is the one to have

Sorry Miles I am probably being a d1ck but do you know where I can find images of the PTs and trap door methods?

That second one is very similar to the TT set up I have used, with no issue, for years.

For the sake of completeness, here's a picture of a XU10 baffled sump (this particular one from an S16) - the baffle that fits to the oil pump isn't shown though.

Nice work that Stu! Did you make it yourself from sheet metal???? Or is it a kit from someone?

I've made it myself. I'm planning to modify it a little:

- tighter pump baffle with trap door

- add front baffle that will prevent oil surge during long hard breaking

- drill 2-3 holes in horizontal baffle

I've read many post about buffled sump, and I'm going to do a rebuild to a 1.9 mi16; but my question is:

for one like me that don't use the car in track, is it usefull a buffled sump ?

as I imagine

but why so many problems in mi16? I'm talking about oil surge.

Just wondering that xu9ja e xu9j4 are very similar engines (except heads of course)

aparently its down to the head design and the oil ways not draining as well as they could, which leads to lower oil levels in the sump.

people also extend the pick up and put a spacer on to give the extra volume needed to protect against lack of oil.

i'm considering buying a pts sump baffle for my 8v.

only thing i'm questioning really, is, that i don't understand 'extend the pick up and put spacer on'

does anyone have any pics please to explain?

cheers
