Fuel Gauge - A Quickie!

Recommended Posts

Guest jpward99

Just a quickie, done some searching without results....

My fuel gauge is getting worse and need to sort it - it's a bit erratic, one minute it's at half, then all of a sudden drops to a quarter, then back up again to half etc etc (and before any funny answers thats without a dose of heavy right foot or going near a petrol station!).

Any solution? Any earth to check? Replace sensor/switch??

Cheers!

Firstly, brush your teeth and check your pits for wiffyness.

It's your fuel level sensor. This is situated in the fuel tank. Pulll up the carpet on the driver's side, remove the right hand plastic cap, pull the plug and twist the cover below off.

Replace the tube with a nice shiny new one and refit all in reverse. Remember though, no smoking whilst undertaking this particular job.

i totaly agree with saveloy but when you refit this sens buy new seal too because if you put old you shure have leak of petrol and this is not fun(dangerous and smelly.
