Dodgy Rev Counter - Final Proof

Recommended Posts

trogboy

I posted a long time ago about the fact that I thought my rev counter was way off or that my engine was not revving as it should. At the time I got the response that the rev counters on TUs are ususally pretty good - well now I know different for mine.

I had my car on the rolling road down at Citrcuit Motors on Saturday and we found that when the engine was running at ~7100 RPM the rev counter on the dash was reading a shade over 4750rpm!!!

When I think back to all of the times when I have been ringing the guts out of the engine at an indicated 6250rpm wondering why the valves were bouncing and it wouldn't rev to 7000!

I'm suprised nothing when pop.
