wardy18 33 1 Cars Posted November 18, 2007 Hi all Was just wondering before i throw anythin away which coil is best to use on the 1900 8v?! Currently i have the older system fitted which is teh coil mounted to teh side wall of the engine bay but i also have available in my spare parts box the later version which bolts ontop of teh Inlet Mani?! welshpug 1,623 Posted November 18, 2007 I preffer the earlier type, as they dont suffer from the heat as much and are a lot cheaper. IIRC a Beru universal coil is about £20 from euro car parts and fits perfectly. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

wardy18 33 1 Cars Posted November 18, 2007 so there's no real advantage of either way, im fitting 45 webers if this makes any diference?! with the earlier style coil, i know this is a very popular method in old school set ups with webers ie on the MkII Escorts etc but is there any advantage or is it possible to buy an uprated coil which produces more power and so a stronger spark for better firing?!
