306 Turbo Diesel Brakes On A 205?

Recommended Posts

Someone mentioned to me that 306 TD front discs were slightly bigger than 205 ones. And you can fit discs and calipers and the brakes are better. Is this right?. Anyone done it? Are they any better?

I'm pretty sure the TD discs are the same size as a gti, 247mm. Do you mean the 266mm setup?

I have no idea. He said they go straight on the original hubs. Do the 266's?

Yeah they bolt straight on providing you have 1.9 hubs.

The td brakes are the same size as std but the rear drums are a good upgrade on a 1.6 much better than rear discs.

Xsi brakes are the 266mm set up and go on to 1.9 hubs.

S16/XSi/HDI and ZX 16v all the same, 266mm. They pop up from time to time on here, or consider GTi6 brakes, see for sale section! (but you have to have made a few more posts!) :)

I have TD brakes on my cabrio (CJ). They fit perfectly.

With brembo max discs and textar pads they are nice for a street car.

Does anyone know if i change the master cylinder? 405 one or something?

You don't have to, there is an increase in pedal drop but once you get used to it iys fine. If you want you can put a different mc but try it without first and see what you think.

if you're using the 54mm piston calipers then the 22.2mm mc from a 306xsi will reduce the peddle travel.

Leave it as is hassan if you are thinking of converting to disks. I've done it twice now and imo it makes the car very tail happy under hard braking and no real advantage over drums anyway.
