[help] Engine Serial Number

Recommended Posts

kaich

I'm looking an mi16...

I've just phone to a scrapyard. He told me he has got two engines:

1CW5G

1CW99

he told me there's no the plate with code (eg. d6b or other)

What kind of engines are they?

the first one seems a 1.8 16V from a 406, right?

the second one?

On old engines there must be a black/silver small plate somewhere on the engine

which says PTC and above it the engine code is written. D6B, DFW and so on.

no way of telling really, thats the start of the engine number you need to declare when transferring engines form diffrenent shells,

the label normally on the front of block where the main engine mount bolts on,

Would it help if he told you what colour the injectors are or what material the inlet mani is made from? Not the best help but something perhaps.

the guy doesn't know nothing (or he don't want to look the engine). at this point I'll go to see with my own eyes (only 200 miles from here  ). Otherwise I'll hope it's the right engine! :)
