I found them quite easy to fit, I did them wet in the end so I could spend ages sliding them about until I was finally happy with the place. :P

Wish it were mine - It's the neighbours weekend toy! After seeing his full Gulf paint scheme, the Rallye decals suddenly didn't seem so OTT, so it persuaded me to put the stickers back on my car...

Figured this out now.

The return pipe comes off the little white as you said so you can just use that with the Xs engine and no need to block up the return or anything. ;)

Took me 5 hours to swap the engines including a clutch and manifold change which I didn't think was to bad. B)

hello jrod i would like to do what you did, put a xs engine into a xr shell. now my doubts are:

- what has to be done

- do i have to change any other parts

- can i just take the engine out and put the new engine in

could you explain the swapping process?

the other day i looked into the xs engine bay and i noticed some difference to the xr 1.1(i owned one last year) i had a look at a xs from 1992 at a dealer and he was asking for 2000€!! :o and it has 160000km that is why im interested in the swap

sorry if this seems a basic question, but im new to this sort of thing.

or could i keep the same engine 1.1 and do some mods to it? put some bike carbs etc

thank you B)

Is your car a 1.1 carb? if it is then the xs engine will go stright in no need to change anything.

It was a 1.1 carb so literally just swap the engines and its done. To be fair I'd change the suspension when at it as the standard stuff is crap.

On that shell the only thing left from when I bought it is the windscreen and headlights....

It's currently undergoing more work...

yes it is a 1.1 carb. my doubt was if i had to take anything out or change this about.. ;)

i was also wondering if there is any point in modding/tuning the 1.1 instead of swapping the engine from the xs..

does any think its worth doing?

cheers!!

:)

Need more cable ties to (re)attach the mudflap but other than that it's pretty much done! Excuse the dirt, I cannot be bothered to clean it at the moment. (I cleaned the rear valance and boot though!)
