Manuel Window Winder Mechanisms - Grrrrrrr

My 205 suffers from a common problem that I am struggling to solve.

 

The drivers side window droppes down and the mechanism is quite loose.

I thought that it would be just a case of replacing the mechanism so duly when to my local scrap yard and got said part.

The question is, is it the spring that is the problem or the shaft spindle?

I thought that a loose shaft would be the cause but not so, should I try and tighten or replace the spring?

Maybe you bought like for like from the scrapyard. Although a blatant plug, I have just converted manual to electric windows and have a perfect set of manual mechanisms available.
