Gti-6 Starting Issues

Recommended Posts

Spiky

ok, earlier i had the fuel pump running, but now it's not,

it is working as i sent power to it, but even doing this while trying to start it it dont fire up.

just turns over thats all

i have put a multimetre on the fuel pump wire and there is no power.

it hasn't got a lambda sensor at all, ( not sure if it needs this to start)

i'm assuming it still unlocked ( to unlock , the gti-6 donor car was running then just unplugged ecu)

is there a fuel pump fuse or relay i can check????

I assume that when you fitted the loom you kept the injection double relay?

are you getting spark?

if it is fitted bridge pins 1 to 11 on the plug with a multimeter, ignition on, the pump should come on.

yeah i have the internet in here ;)

no ticking from injectors

i only have a 14 fuses in my fuse box inside

i found this on GTI-6 forum

The main wire most people forget is that you need to wire an ignition switched 12v to the double relay that controls fuel pump, coils, and injectors. I think from memory that it's pin 14 on the relay but can't totally remember. There's a pin out of the relay in the FAQ section on here though.

ahh bugger, I've left my 306 haynes manual in my brothers car!ignition switched is the big red wire in the 205 loom. (2A IIRC)

fuel pump fuse in the glivebox is the blue one on the right hand end.

sounds good, i've got a relay in front of me, 14 looks like a trigger, and closes the contacts between 5 and 8.

similarly 2 is a trigger and will close contacts between 11 and 1.

I'm sure i'd posted that pin14 thing on this forum too. Oh well glad you got it sorted, it took me ages trying to work out why mine wouldn't run.

i found it on the gti-6 forum, it may even had been one of your posts

i need to find out why i never wired it up?

unless this wouldn't have been part of the 19pin connector? and is an extra wire needed

but i dint see how the gti-6 would power this, so must be part of the 19 pin connector

Yeah it was my post on the 306 site, i'm on there much more than here. I could never find the wire and also wasn't too fussed as i was getting very fed up with it not running, so just ran a new wire for it.
