Steering Wheel Size

Recommended Posts

Guest labrat

Hi All

Been thinking about a new steering wheel (something nice like a momo) but wondering about size. There seem to be roughly 3 options

280 320 350 mm

Anybody else done this ?

If so what size did you go for ?

Cheers

I went for a 340 Mountney *M* in suede looks like a Momo Corsa

Anything smaller and the steering would be too heavy for me I think cos I don't have power steering

and the whole idea is to drive quickly, I still need to fit a quick rack TBH

I fitted a Momo Champion, 350 dia. (same size as original 1987 1.6 gti)

So no change in steering but a much nicer wheel to use

I've a sparco something or other - its 350mm diameter with a 90mm dish (i.e. it sticks out towards you 90mm)

Absolutely perfect for track driving, though if it was a road car i'd go for a 350mm diameter, but less of a dish.

I think mines an OMP one 320mm, I'm personally not happy with it and think it's still too large, but i've got power steering and should be moving to a 280mm one soon.

Stuf215 has a MOMO Race 280mm on his MI16 with no Powersteering, you want to see him try and turn it in the road, last time he did it we brought a teasmaid along and were able to get through 3 cups of tea before he'd finished ;)

I have the 320mm MOMO race on mine and i find it perfect. It is slightly harder to turn when parking but when actually moving and cornering it is much more responsive. I wouldnt go any bigger but then i wouldnt go any smaller. Just my 2p's worth!

Thanks for the input.

Car in question has powered steering, so very interested in your comments Andy.

May well have to be a 280 then ;)

Thanks
