christopher 5 1 Cars Posted August 6, 2007 I'm working on a Rallye that has a 106 gearbox fitted. It works fine but the problem is the clutch is very heavy (much heavier then mine) and not a real smooth action. So what could be the problem and can I possibly fix it without taking the gearbox off ?? Please tell me its something like the cable
welshpug 1,678 Posted August 6, 2007 yep! probably just the cable, get an o.e one, they do last a lot longer. other things it could be is the release shaft's bushes, they sometines get a bit tight, and the pedal occasionally does too.

Fair play welshpug Changed the clutch cable yesterday. On removing it i found out that the circlip was missing on the pedal end (could have been very nasty) and on teh gearbox end some plastic was stopping a smooth action. (I'm assuming that this plastoc came from inside the cable). In any case it is now pretty ok. Thanks..I was panicking a bit
