Washer Jets

hi

 

in need of a bit of help,i find 205 gti washer jets to be a bit,crap lol

 

been looking into getting so tubing and relocating the jets onto the wipers,but i cant find the jets that go on them any where???

 

of is it blades that you buy with them mounted on??

you can use 405 spray bars, I used the spare ones I had after replacing the wipers on my Mi16 and getting new spraybars with them.

I use the ones from a 2002 onwards Saxo, I think. The really spray lots of water onto the screen and you don't end up with redundant ones on the bonnet

if you're getting blocked nozzles (rather than just poor performance), it's worth hosing out the screen wash reservoir (if you haven't already) as they silt up with muck

You may find what you are looking for in a yard that scraps trucks. I once stole a pair of jets of the wiper arms of a Volvo truck.

I'm not suggesting you do it, far from it, it's very naughty but they clipped on to the wiper arm and sprayed four jets of water each on to the screen. Brilliant

That sounds similar to the 405 ones.

Where did you buy them from? Do they fit normal 205 arms or do you need 405 arms?

they just clip to the blade themselves. im not sure if you can buy the spraybars seperate. i have always had them new on new blades.

 

renault master vans have the washer jets on the wiper blade as well. its a small pod about 5 inchs long. looks very neat.

like pugger said, I'm not sure if they're available separate (a search of pug's parts files will soon tell though...), but they simply clip to the blade's frame.

 

Iveco Daily's use similar clips to the master too.

405 ones are looking winners at the mo,but now you mention it,our merc sprinter work van has some,and im thinking i might nick them

 

nah,second hand merc van specialist down the road and were freindly with him so might look at ours tomorrow and then go down and see what he has i could pinch

Citroen Xantia rear wipers have tiny spray bars completely hidden under the wiper arm.

307 washer jets are a little bigger, but they emit a really good fanned jet of water across the screen, also doesn't leave useless holes or old jets in the bonnet.

 

I run a BX setup on my white 205 on a single wiper, has a tube clipped to the arm with holes in it that squirt the water as the arm moves, similar to the 405 ones, works pretty well. Another tip is to extend the feed to the jets and wrap it round a coolant hose for heated washers!!

I find that the rear washer jet has far from poor performance - it clears the rear window and lands on the roof!

Ha! You got nothing on me, my rear one clears the roof and if Im stopped in traffic and the wind's right I can get the car in front

 

I got a new pair of 309 twin jets from pug and they're s*it, I cleaned out the washer tank too and they still gum of with crap and a re a pain in the arse to align properly. I carry a pin around in the ashtray and it seems every 4th journey have to realign them slightly. Aim slightly too high and they clear the roof, too low and they just foam up and make puddles on the bonnet and there only seems to be a fraciton of a degree of difference... Damn things.

 

The 307 ones sound good, I like the pattern the ex's Polo makes on the screen, a fine spray which covers the whole screen, not just 2 pathetic water pistol dribbles...

I have wrapped the washer tube around 2 coolant pipes and then onto a second pump, before connecting them to the standard jets.

The result is, plenty more pressure and warm water.

I was planning on doing this too. I'm moving my reservoir to the drivers side, so the top radiator hose is ideal to spiral the washer hose around on it's way up to the jets. But what pump did you use as your secondary pump? It obviously needs to have a hose fitting on the inlet and outlet sides, but I can't remember if the original pumps have them on the inlet side or if it's just a large opening

Theres a kit on ebay where you get good quality replacement wiper blade witha 3 point jet spray attached and all the required tubing for around £5 per wiper. They are good as I have them fitted to my 205 gti.

I use a 406 washer bottle pump and it is turbocharged compared to the 205 one! I also use the 306 twin jets on mine and they work fine once they are aligned.

 

I hear you can get some nice chrome ones, maybe even some with handy blue LEDs in

i took mine off a jcb at work

they have 2 spray points either side (4 per blade) and are located with a screw

just run some rubber hose to them under the grill below the screen and get the fittings from a 405 to connect to them

now that i've writen it you might as well get the lot from a 405 at the scrappy just run it under the grill and make holes to suit

Everything I needed I bought from Halfords. I also fitted an in line one way valve, so as to keep the pressure at the nozzles. It has worked very well for the past few years.
