Big Electrical Problem

Recommended Posts

richard

Started car up this evening, checked all lights, horn, windows, everything was working fine.

I cleaned it, so its now looking lovely.

Move it up the road to bring the 1.6 on the drive, again no problems,

Go to start it again and theres an odd electrical noise like somethings shorting (briefly) a quick flash from the dash lights and then nothing. zip. nada. no lights, nothing on the dash, nothing. The car is completely dead. Cant find any fuses in the fuse box that have popped. And have replaced the fuses in the box by the air filter, they werent looking the best. couldnt see any that had popped though.

Earth point has been mentioned as the battery is off and charging now.

Agreed? and confirmation of eathing points are...

- lead from battery (-) to inner wing,

- lead from battery (-) to gearbox

-?

I have an MOT booked tomorrow morning, so anyone that can help out it will be very much appreciated.

clean the terminal on the shunt box thats bolted to the slam panel, I had exactly this problem earlier this week.

also it could be the starter solenoid stuck open circuit.

1 to the engine block

battery has been fully charged, and all earthing points cleaned (whilst the sun was coming up and birds were singing)

Its now turning over, so thank you henry (msn) and welshpug
