205 Gear Nob

Recommended Posts

swordfish210

i was going to try and fit my new rose jointed gear linkage today but i failed at the first hurdle, i couldnt get the gear nob off :( The haynes manual said that it just pulls off but after much pulling and a severly red face i gave up. Is it true that it just pulls off and i'm just being a big girl or does it come off in a different way. Thanks

normal procedure is:

- pull the knob off

- wipe the blood from your nose

- try to push the huge dent in the roof back

:(

My method yesterday was..

- quick change from second into third gear

- knob comes off unexpectedly in hand

- drop knob under passenger seat

- hurt hand changing gear with metal stick

:(

Just pulls off, try twisting it. Be careful not to break the rear view mirror as I've done this in the past :(

errrrrr, hang on a second!

Aren't you supposed to twist it 90 degrees to either side BEFORE you yank it off?

Well done that man! Yup twist it 90 degrees and they fly off - on BE3;s though.

Be1 knobs tend to just pull of.
