Your Thoughts On Webers And Mi16 Lumps?

Recommended Posts

ORB

OK so I have a set of twin 40's and a Rebuilt MI unit.

I have done a search, but I have not found anything that hits the nail on the head.

What are your views on Weber 40's and the MI16 ?

Will it run any better or will it be stangled by the smaller carbs?

I see a few different views when I search the various forums.

Thanks

There was a post knocking around that was started by taffycrook i think. If i remember correctly 40's are good for around 160bhp and you really need 45's for an Mi16. I could be wrong but have another go at searching with taffycrook in the criteria and you should be sorted.

I have done tests using various set ups but I have never tried 40's on a mi16.

The reason being they are simply not going to flow enough for this engine.

I had 35mm chokes in some 45's on a mi16 and these strangled the top end fitting 38mm chokes gave 185 bhp.

i would rather use the std induction set up which is capable of more than enough power than a set of 40's.
