Timing Via A Strobe

Ok i want to adjust the timing on the dizzy on my F reg 205 xs. where abouts do i aim the strobe ?, the pulley? , and where are the markers to adjust it between. Only car i have ever done this on was a mini. Let me know cheers

You aim it at the fly wheel, to adjust you turn the dizzy

 

I think its 8 degrees BTC but don't quote me.

Should be a marker on the flywheel somewhere, have a look in haynes

Or you can find TDC on No1 and mark the pulley yourself (prob more accurate)

Yep, make sure the strobe light is connected to the right cylinder. The place to aim is between the engine block and gearbox bell housing at the front, usually covered by a plastic plug. I usually find it easier to put tippex on the correct marks, shows up really well under the strobe.

ok ive had a go, i took the flywheel cover off, but what rpm do i set the stobe to , and also what is BTC?
