Turbo Woes!

Recommended Posts

evening all,

started my turbo conversion yesterday, engines in and its fouling all over the place. gear linkages, steering column, fuel pipes. anybody with any advice?

i have modified the fuel pipes to come over the master cylinder but there still quite close to the compressor wheel (bout an inch or so).

started on the wiring and i have it all wired correctly i think:

permanent live on pins 8, 11, 14 and 15

switched on pin 2 + 3

fuel pump on pin 9

but it still wont start. i have no voltage to the fuel pump under cranking and i have no spark.

to me it sounds like the ecu is locked but the donor vehicle didnt have an keypad or a transponder (1992 xm). :D

does any one have any advice on what to do now? has any one had similar problems?

any advice muchly welcome as i have 2 of these to do and only 3 days in which to do so!!! ;):P

cheers

mike :)

Yes all that fouling is completely normal on this conversion, and has to be over come. :D

Extended lower mount fork by about 15mm.

'L' shaped gear linkage neads bending downward and rod adjusted to match, what I did for mine was

to reweld the ball joint on the selector underneath as opposed to on top.

I only extended my fuel return line, the other is close yes, but is zip tied out of the way.

Have a look through my project thread.

On mine switched live was pin 2 , not both.

You'll also have a switched live going through one side of the inertia switch, as this provides power

to the fuel pump half of the loom, was on mine anyway.

and no spark could be attruibuted to pin 27 of ECU if I remember correctly,.

If I were you, I would do a bit more research, and slow down a little ;)

i have done loads of research on it, trailing the search for endless hours much to the annoyance of the other half! :P

too add a bit more info i have checked pin 27 and i have a switched live at it.

according to hilgie in another thread there was a switched live going to pin 3 of the relay. i will try removing that s/l from pin 3 tommorow and just leave 2 wired in but my loom doesnt have an intertia switch fitted to it. ;)

bloody french metal! :D:P

thanks for the replies chaps.

yeah all the earths are connected to the head at the coil end of it.

this is the wiring diagram that i have:

http://www.student.kun.nl/p.oonincx/downloads/xu10j2te-1.gif

the s/l is at pin 3 according to that diagram, i will remove it and just try a switched live on pin 2 instead.

cheers

Youve probably sorted it now pugger, but from what i can see on the schemamatics sam sent me, pin 3 is a switched live from an immobiliser.
