Aftermarket Cams Used For Torque.

I’m after a new cam for my engine (1.9 8v, home porting, 3-angle seats, higher compression, currently being rebuilt). After having done a search I discovered that anything over ~270 can't be used on standard injection and that they will only give about 5bhp at the top end on a standard engine.

 

My question is will a 285 cam and vernia, tuned to give more torque around 3-4000rpm be any good? Would I notice a difference and would the injection be cope any better?
