wrong section, and the answer is no.

theres no interchangeability between the 1.6 / 1.9 shafts/hubs.

base model shafts wont fit either.

I thought you could use 1.9 shafs in a 1.6 if you changed the hubs?

either way, wrong section!

thats right yes.

to clarify (i just re-read my post and its a bit unclear) :

you'll need the 1.9 hubs if you want to run 1.9 shafts on your 1.6.

(front track will be narrower aswell now that i think about it)

EDIT: i think you'll also run into problems with the brakes, but dont quote me on that one.

you can't use 1.9 shafts in the 1.6 hubs, as they dont fit at the hub end.

welcome to the forum by the way.

Yes you can, but you'll need 1.9GTi discs as well iirc.

All the other XU dirveshafts should be interchangable though, including the XUD driveshafts.

Does this mean that if you start with a 1.6 and you uprate to 309 bones and shafts, you wont actually gain any negative camber? :P

oops sorry about posting in wrong section :D

So 1.9 gti ones wont fit without changing hubs and brake discs.

But any other lower model drive shafts will fit?? is that for sure cause i dont wanna go down scrappy and pull some off a base model if they wont fit

thanks

You need 1.9 hubs so the setup will be the same as a 1.9. So you will get negative camber.

I wonder if there is anyway to have 1.6 hubs and 309 bones, giving a wide track and negative camber?

no driveshafts from a TU engined 205 will fit,

unsure about using diesel XU shafts.

your best off finding a 1.6 gti driveshaft, save f*cking about. im sure someone on the forum has one somewhere.

if the 309's ever came in 1600 form then just using those shafts should suffice. getting hold of a pair however, may prove to be a bit of a challenge.

Phase 1 Driveshafts

Phase 2 Driveshafts (XU5 and XUD)

Basically any that fit a BE3 gearbox that aren't off an XU9 of some description will fit, they may not be identicle but they'll work and be the same length. That includes the carburrettor XU engines, the 1.6GTi, the 1.8 and 1.9 diesel and the 1.8 turbo diesel. The ABS models have different ones but I doubt you'll come across any and I doubt they'll be too different anyway. I think the automatic ones may fit as well, or at least there is no section for automatic specific driveshafts.

Besides a good scrapyard should let you return unbroken goods if they don't work or fit.
