Lowering - - How Much And Which Springs?

Right, going to lower my car on thew front Dont want to go over the top, just to make it sit a little nicer. Im worried about lowering it to much and making the handling s*ite, so whats the ideal limit? -40mm?

 

Also, which is the best make without being too hard on the pocket? (i.e no more than 60quid a pair)

ventura do -25 -40 and -50 for bout 40-60 quid wouldnt go -50 though especially as there more expensive will be rock hard probably hit the bumpstops etc.. not ideal for the road.
