Door Pins

Recommended Posts

I am going to use bolts in place of door pins as my useless local dealer says they can not source any more!

What mm bolts should I use? I am going to get plain bolts with a little thread on the end made of non hardened steel so they dont wear the hinges at all.

It will be nice to be able to close the door without lifting it and for the gti trim to be in line again!

Also, I can't manage to link my exterior handle to the link rod in the door. Any easy way to do this?

Am not sure I just asked for ones off a phase 1.5 F reg. They have little plastic caps sat in the top so I am guessing roll pins?

Does that mean i can go to b&q and buy a pack of roll pins as they do like boxes of 50 various ones!

If so what mm will I need?

It wouldn't surprise me but my local dealer is total junk, overpriced and doesn't bother with little things like this.

What size will I need as theres a really good shop which sells these singularly. The ones on ritchies link appear in the size 5 x 40mm etc. What size do I need?

ta!

hmm, measured mine and get 7x50 , obviuously thats compressed and rusted away. Futura have you fit yours yet? Any chance you can measure them? I suspect 8x55 will do the job.

i'll have them for my mum's 405 if they are the right ones, I'll whip one out of her car next time i'm up there.

just ordered some rollpins, £2.54 each plus vat, they actually had one on the shelf but i'll wait till the other 3 come in before paying for them -_-

lookin at my list the part no for the 405 ones is 9044 30 so maybe not the same as the 205 ones. Definately 405 8/90 onwards. The quantity on the bag states 5 but i've got 9 for some reason. Will dig out my calipers later and get some dimensions for you.

Sorry I didn't come back on this thread earlier.

The door pins from Pug are 49mm long and roughly 7mm diameter. Part # is 9044.31 and they are £2.42 for the pair +VAT.

Pic attached -_-

I bought some today at the local fastener supplier. He said they only did them in 6 or 8 x 60, and he had a look at the existing pins and said the best bet was 6mm. Ah well, only a quid for 4 :D:D
