Problem With Oil Light On Mi Engine

Recommended Posts

Jer309GTi

My rebuilt Mi engine is ready to be started now, but am having problems with the oil light. It comes on when you turn on the ignition but as soon as you turn the key to crank the engine the oil light goes out. I've got the coil and crank position sensor unplugged and was turning it over to get the oil pressure up, but as the light goes out straight away I don't know if the oil pressure is up or not. Any ideas please?

thats right, relays cut power to the dash and other ancilleries while cranking.

however the oil/stop light should come back on as soon as you stop cranking if you have no oil pressure, if it doesnt you do have oil pressure.
