Noise From Cv Diff? When Turning Left?

Recommended Posts

Lillpete

My 205 Mi (previously 1.6gti) has developed a strange grumbling sound rather like a wheel bearing has gone, however there is no play in either bearing and it only makes the noise when I turn left(even slightly) could it be an inner CV or maybe is the diff on it's way out??

Any idea's

Check your brake hoses.

I had the same thing with full lock turning right. I found it to be the braided brake line hittting a wheel balance weight.

Higgy.

Thanks I'll check that, but it's got louder and starts making noise at anything even 1/10 of a turn from straight on so I think it's mechanical.

BTW am I right in thinking that the diff and gearbox share oil??
