I Love My Xs!

macaroni

A few weeks ago my CSC manifold cracked. It was entirely my fault though, so can't complain. Anyway, I put my standard manifold and downpipe back on and used the car. It felt so flat and gutless I got cheesed off with it, stuck it in the garage whilst I used my Matra.

Meanwhile, I had the manifold welded and last night I put it back on - the car is now wonderful again!

There is a real vigour and voracity to the mid-range with the tubular manifold on that just isn't there with the standard set up.

I'm not sure if such a difference would be felt with a standard carb/cam, but it definitely better on mine.

Just thought I'd share that with y'all!

Nice one :) Nice to hear you can feel a difference.

Question. Are you using the mount on the gearbox? Because the thread on mine has gone so I'm running without. :o

Worried about cracking/bending it. Been allright so far at least as far as I can tell

Ha, not a marketing ploy at all as I make nothing from the group buy!

But, as it happens, I can get you on the order for these if you send me a cheque this week.

I was just so surprised at the difference. When I fitted the manifold originally, I also had the cam fitted, so I coulnd't get a good feel for the value of the manifold.

Calvin, please don't wait for the postman as delivery will be well after christmas now. Very frustrating...

Christopher, I am using the gearbox mount.

A while ago ran without it, for the same reason as you, and it snapped my standard downpipe, so I now make sure I use it.

Having said that, I don't think I was using the centre exhaust hanger either, so the whole system was being held up by the manilfold nuts and the backbox!!

Im running with out the gearbox mount on mine and it doesn't bother me, but with grpA engine mounts I'd be surprise if the engine moves at all anyway I know when sat still and reved it doesnt move

p.s.

as I said before macaroni when I fitted mine the mid range gain was unreal out on track made the car feel tons better

Regardless of the engine mounts, doesn't the exhaust swing about a bit on the backbox hangers?

You did wax lyrical about it, but always nice to experience it oneself!

Ok Thanks..

Mine Rocks quite a bit and actually sqeaks like a b@rstard. I think its the balljoint to the intermediate section.

Stu whats the group A mount like? Does rattle like a bag on nails on idle like the magnex mount did on my 1.9?

Do they make one for the TU24 Rallye? If so how much are they?I use the std cast manifold and tubular downpipe and then a handmade SS 1 box system. I've now got an Omex ECU for ignition, plus a race cam. Will the manifold make much difference? Everyone tells me the std manifold is as good as anything else and then quote the works rallye's ran with the cast one etc etc

There is a specific 205rallye (tu24) manifold from CSC, it is the same price as the 205xs one at £185.52 delivered.

If you get a cheque to me by Monday or transfer the money into my bank account, I can get you on the order which *SHOULD* be going in on Monday.

Too close to Xmas! When will the next order be going in?

It will be around April time next year.

To be honest, it is such a slow process that I'm not sure if I can be arsed to do another one. This order was supposed to go in, originally, at the end of September!!

I know what you mean, I once had to wait about 4 months for some bits to turn up from OMP and about 6 months for a set of wheels from Cromadora.

If I want a manifold in the spring will I be able to get one through you or will I have to go it alone? Just skint at moment due to Xmas.

When the next order comes around I'll sort it out. It isn't really any skin off my nose, I just feel for you guys having to wait so long.

I am chomping at the bit to get one of these. When do you realistically think they will arrive?

Realistically? Based on past experience? And what the importer just told me? End of January.

This has been the most drawn out order yet. The whole thing hinges on an Alfa specialist who always has a huge order. Thing is, if there is a big enough order from us, I can get the same prices and delivery much quicker. Not sure how big an order I'd need though.

I'll look into it for next time.
