Engine Mount Removal

HI

 

I've bought some uprated engine mounts and am having problems working out how to remove the top engine mount, can anyone tell me how its done

smack it round with a chisel.Its a captive nut underneath.

you could try making a tool as shown in the haynes manual, I've actually seen one in my local PSA specialist but they dont use it very often, hammer and chisel work better!

I think I was unlucky but when I did this using a hammer the captive nut ended up bursting its casing and spinning, I've thought this may have been because I was hitting it at an angle. If possible get the oil filter tool or just bear this in mind.

 

I take it you mean this kind of idea?

no i used one with a chain, wrapped it around, got some preasure behind it, and it come off easily.

if its long enough to wrap onto itself then quite possibly, but not many come with that much chain attached nowadays, but you can always add more ;)
