406 Engine Ecu Unlocking

Recommended Posts

Guest TonySmiff

Have done some searching but cant find anything......

Can i get the ecu unlocked to do away with the immobiliser or can i wire in the arieal around the ignition switch etc and use the immobiliser?

Using the 406 ignition barrel and key i suppose due to the chip in the key?

Tony :(

Hi Tony.

You sure you searched :) , there is atleast two pages of info on unlocking ECU's and were to get it done.

Not heard of your aeriel idea though.

Yes you can get it unlocked, but it costs a fair amount!

Sam.

However, if you have all of the wiring and components of the immobiliser there's nothing stopping you wiring that in and just using it as is.

Unplug ecu with engine running, this will permanently unlock ecu as long as it never sees transponder box again

I know this will work on the early 406's with key pads (disconect the key pad and ecu wont lock again) but this is a d9 406 on a t-reg would this work the same?

To wire in the standard immob looks like would have to wire in the 406 Bsi as code is received by the bsi from the key and then the bsi unlocks the engine ecu.

Going to look into the boxer coded key system as they have a small immob ecu seperate to the bsi which i may be able to adapt but failing that will get it unlocked.

Both seem like to much hassle :)
