Fitting Weber 40/40 On 8v Head

Recommended Posts

Guest Chucky

Hi guys.

I'm planning to install 2 weber 40/40 dcoe on a standard 8v gti. The car has a pas and the alternator is over the pas pump, and my question is if I will need to remove the pas pump and move the alternator to let enough room for the Webers.

Thank you for your advice

if u do need to , (i dont know as ive never tried), theres always the option of fitting a desel pas pump that sits on the gearbox to allow u to lower the alternater.

You need a non power steering, alternator bracket.

Or you need to fit a mini alternator.

Far easier to ditch the power steering.

Thank you guys for the information.

I will look for both alternatives, smaller alternator or electropump to see what is cheaper.

I do have an electric PAS pump from a low mileage 106 Gti (21k miles).

I paid £80 for it as was going to be on my 309 rallycar - but ended up running standard injection and selling my carbs.

Not sure how much it would cost to send to Argentina though!
