sonofsam 5 Posted September 12, 2006 Hi Paul.I had the standard ones on my old green machine bought from that seller, but not those extra wide fronts though. Sam has them aswell, but again not sure if they were the wider type. Sam.

sonofsam 5 Posted September 12, 2006 does anyone know if the normal arches any diffrent from the ones that speedy does?? Speedy does the Euro Rallye arches, those ones up top are copys of Ecosse Antares arches with a wider front.
timmsy19 3 Posted September 13, 2006 ahh right. whats the diffrence are the ones at the top taller up the car or wider?

pdd144c 0 Posted September 16, 2006 Got the wide ones on now, only just cover the wheels with them being at ET0. Looks mental, will get some pics up sometime...
acox99 74 1 Cars Posted September 17, 2006 Smckeown what bumper is that? lovely lovely car though

Sam 4 Posted September 20, 2006 Even with ET0 on 16x8, the wider arches will look stupid. I sent mine back and got the thinner ones. I got 15x8s now too You're trying to make our cars more and more similar I swear
pdd144c 0 Posted September 20, 2006 Thin ones aren't wide enough Sam. May need the larger ones to get 9s on at somepoint. Are you back soon? Need to try that manifold for size!
Sam 4 Posted September 20, 2006 The width of the wheels means jack, it's the track that matters. I run 8s and run the normal arches and the arches cover the wheels pretty well.
B1ack_Mi16 67 Posted September 20, 2006 The width of the wheels means jack, it's the track that matters. I run 8s and run the normal arches and the arches cover the wheels pretty well. I tested my wide ones last weekend with 15mm spacer (to clear brembos) and SL434's, 6.75x15 wheels. It looked like the wheels sat 1.5-2cm into the arch, much less than I expected, so I'm pleased with the wide ones on mine. I'm sure the SL434's have ET15, so with the spacer in place you can compare it to just having a 6.75x15 wheel with ET0.
Sam 4 Posted September 21, 2006 I find that really weird. I run ET5 and the wider arches just looked silly. I use the standard 205 wishbones and driveshafts but even so!!
timmsy19 3 Posted September 23, 2006 out of interest how are these fitted and do they fit directly to the base model arches??
sonofsam 5 Posted September 23, 2006 If there anything like my old ones they would be pop riveted into place.
timmsy19 3 Posted September 23, 2006 sorry for sounding really dumb but whats the diffrence between pop rivits and normal rivits? thing is im thinking about getting some to go on my xs. would they fit the front arches as i understand the gti ones are slightly wider???same goes for rear?? sonofsam 5 Posted September 23, 2006 Not to sure to be honest, you would need a pop rivet gun. I guess the expression 'pop' comes from tail of the rivet ( wich is inserted in the gun ) popping off as it the rivet is crushed, incidently i had a bought a cheap gun wich and on a few occasions didn't cut the tail off! Was a right bitch to file them ends down by hand as there recessed into the arch for filling purposes afterwards, totally dissapointed as i wanted to keep the rivets shiowing for a proper slag look:D I would say just get a set and make them fit ( not the extra wide ones though ) Just going to take some time and effort that's all. timmsy19 3 Posted September 23, 2006 thought taks what they were. will have to get some and a rivit gun dont spose u have any pics with the standard front valance on and the arches or did u fit the arches after the valance?
sonofsam 5 Posted September 23, 2006 Arches and St.Tropez went on together mate. have a practice on someting using rivets before you go on the arches. The body work and arches need small drill holes( obviously the size of the rivet your using) aswell to accept the rivets/tacks. Best i could find
timmsy19 3 Posted September 23, 2006 (edited) ive done rivets before. (must of been about 6 years ago back at school) wheni get them i will do some test riviting first Edited September 23, 2006 by timmsy19
