Employ a small army of ants to do your bidding. They work hard, are very strong and wont argue...

I dunno...

I just cut the bars a teeny bit short, filled the underneath with P40 and slapped a bit over the top, then stuck them down, a skim of P40 and now it's dried I've got the fear for the sanding - it's going to be a nightmare! :D

First you put it in the wheely bin then you close the lid. Then you put the original grill back on and all is well ?

lol @ the comments..Good ones fella's

Well ok suppose I beter give it up :(

Base model grilles have a closed back.ie no gap between the bars, so a section can be cut.

leaving all three bars in place ready for attachment.

Now, heres the science :( The lower fins of the grille backing that you've just wasted

can be used to join the three bars together at the back on the face edge, but you have to cut the piece were the badge goes completely away thus leaving the three parts to join back together.

Once its all set you can cut away the closed back of the middle section leaving it all nicely and neatly

joined and positioned.

Just a small amount of filling and sanding to do also.

My first effort went in the bin also..this one better be a winner because im not spending

anymore on grilles ;)

I think I made 3 3 bar grills before I was happy with it :)

I then had a crash about 1 week later and cracked it to pieces.

Ive now decided a badged grill suits my car much better! :D

Third time lucky then, unlucky for the grille though!

Im not sure if its going to suit my car as I have a few bars in the valance too, they'll be gone soon though.

If i dont like it hopefully i can sell it on before Cybernck's group buy goes global :D

Have you tried it on the backing plate yet? Only reason I ask is because when I first made mine I used some thin perspex on the back to stiffen it which looks like you have done and it wouldn't fit back on. I took it apart to re-do and it's still sat in bits in the garage.

Yep its on the backing plate right now for smoothing.

I see your point though it does sit about a mm so proud..nothing

a bit of sabotage with the soldering iron wont fix and a small

price to pay for straightness.

I hope aswell to completely remove the seen parts of the backing

on the middle section too.

Cool, mine must have been just slightly too thick as the locating pegs wouldn't click in place, make sure you get some pics up when it's done.

Call it serendipity shall we?

Pattern part backing plate doesn't help either :P

I gave it to my mate to do, helps as he owns his own body shop. My grill originally bent up, so I gave him my two spares just for a trial, and it came back perfect. Will post some pics later!

yeah they aint that hard to do, just have to take your time doing them.

as for the sanding down afterwards, i find a random orbit air sander gets the best results in the least amount of time.
