Changing Tyres

Is it possible to change tyres at home or do you need loads of expensive machinery? I know they can't be balanced but I'm just looking to take the tyre off my spare so I can recondition the wheel; although I suppose if it goes well I may try the other wheels and so will need to take the tyres off them

Cheers ;)

you can do it with 2 crow bars

ive seen it done on tractors by my 70 yearold grandad!!!

mind your fingers!! and get valves fitted profesionly because there a biatch.

just to add to this youll probly make a mess of your alloys

by leavering the tyres.

It's a royal PITA and without and airline I think you will be hard pressed to get the replaced tyre to 'pop' over the lip of the rim. Just take it to a tyre place and I'm sure they would only charge you a few quid to remove them... if not go to the next place!

Seriously not worth the hassle!

There is a thick steel band round the tyres so its difficult to lever them off. Stop being a tight arse and get them down to the tyre place!

Spoons!!!!

When i used to change my own tyres i used two or three spoons to lever it off.

Although this was on my push bike!!;)

Don't do it! It's very dificult. Much easier on a tractor!

Take them to ATS - only £2 a wheel ish to have them removed or £6 to have them swapped. They'll fit tyres bought elsewhere aswell such as MyTyres- the only place i could find who would.

Take them to your local quickfit with a bit of loose change in your pocket and they'll do it for that, works for me! Its called the coffee fund.
