Hi,

As title etc suggests, does anyone know this sensor? :

Engine is from 1989 2-row Mi16x4. (Its the one next to the dipstick)

My other engine is from a 1990 3-row Mi16x4, and has a blank screwed in place?

Twins! :P

Cheers,

Higgy.

P.S. Eagle eyed spotters. I'm just swapping the engines over, thats why the knock sensor is now on the 2-row 1989 engine.

Its got one of those on the sump next to drain plug. Not sure why they would want 2?

Maybe it takes an average reading :(

Does it go into a oil/water passage or into the crank chamber?

I guess there was no wire to it to trace back to the ecu.

I dont fancy disturbing it.

Breaker had already removed loom. And its now up in the loft so a bit of a pain to trace wires.

yep thats definetely a oil temp sensor that should be in the sump not where that is. maybe someone took that plug out at some stage, lost it and put in something that fitted!!

maybe its a flux capaciter?!

well... do you know what one looks like?!

i would suggest oil related to to closeness to dipstick, but the level should be on the rear of block and the temp as mentioned in the sump... im stumped!

Im pretty sure thats the oil LEVEL sensor. The 205 doesn't have a dial for it, but the BX (and 405?) does. It shows you the level when you first turn on.

Oil Temp sensor. Oil level sensor is different to that.

Too high for oil level.

I am wondering if the threaded hole is used to fit a crank stop when working on the engine?

Still seems a little out of possition for this though.

I think the sensor it's self is a red herring as mentioned it just fits the threads.

Yeh its got the usual oil level sensor, same as the other Mi16x4 engine.

I think pug309twin40s & Pug_101 are right, it is just something that fits the threads in the block.

Cheers for your input guys.

Right enough, I stand corrected. :)

Never noticed that blanking plug before; its interesting to know that there is another take-off for what I would assume is in the oil system for oil pressure gauge etc.

That 'hole' in the 2nd picture doesn't go inside the block and is not threaded from memory....Doesn't look like it either in the 2nd pic.
