1.8 Diesel Cam Belt + Water Pump...

Recommended Posts

PsychoSimon

hi all,

My water pump has decided it wants to pump water around the engine bay rather than inside the engine, so was just wondering how many knuckles i should expect to have skin missing from and how many dents in the drivers door/wing when i get going with the lump hammer?? lol.

Seriosly though has anyone done this on theirs and would like to share some pointers? its a k plate one so should be an eccentric tensioner rater than the spring loaded one am i right?

Regards,

Simon

On a diesel engine they are all sprung loaded afaik, you need a 10mm square drive to release the tension but a haynes cover this well.

Probably no different to doing GTi cambelt isn't to hard but the water pump can be awkward.

Graham.
