Pipercross Airbox For Throttle Bodies Px600 Airbox

Recommended Posts

Running throttle bodies on the 205 currently with a standard backplate from ITG and an ITG Sausage air filter and 75mm trumpets.

While looking for airboxes as you get warm air through the radiator then going into the intake system this is not really ideal. So you can fit either a halfheight radiator but thicker (or drop the standard one even further down, but id still like to keep the car standard this way).

So i have been looking for a while for airboxes to fit the 205 as to not really allowing to have to cut the slam panel (my one had to be trimmed a little to let the filter fit) as can be seen here:

While most airboxes seem to be rather huge, it is a given that you have at least 20mm between trumpets and the inner face of the airbox/filter. Approximately 30mm is however an ideal depth for betweeen the trumpet and airbox.

The pipercross airbox looks like this on its own:

Since i had gone from 45mm trumpets to longer 75mm trumpets ( my engine is standard) it gave better response lower down. Not wanting to go back to 45mm trumpets the pipercross airbox was not suitable, until i remembered you can get backboxes not plates for these (jenvey sell them).

So with this and the airbox you can use larger trumpets, i've still yet to fit it to the car, but i also need to fit a catch tank and hook up a cold air feed. I went for the integral filter inside of the entry to the airbox too, however can fit a cone filter to it also and remove the integral filter. I may take a cold air feed from the driving lights though.

All in its just slightly longer by around 2mm than the filter and the backplate, but i've yet to fit it to the car, so will see what its like when its on the car and will sort out some pictures then (need to sort out a catch tank too).
