Brake Peddle Needs To Go Further For Brakes To Bite

Recommended Posts

Since I change my rear brake pads I have to push the brake peddle further before the brakes bit. Also the handbrake lever needs to be pulled up further. Brake are now run in so what did I do wrong??

did you adjust the piston properly on the rear calipers?

might need bleeding although shouldn't make any difference with just fitting rear pads.

Did you disconnect the hoses? If so, you'll have to remove the calipers to get the bleed nipple at the highest point else some air will still be trapped.

If not, are the pads fairly tight on the disc? When you put the new pads in, did you twist the caliper piston back in? Can you adjust the handbrake so the travel is back to normal whilst not binding?

Mark.
