Kamel6k 1 Posted February 15, 2006 The name of the topic says it all... Is it possible? Because, for the 266mm breaks i need the hubs from the base model (this will fit 1.6 gti driveshafts, right?) And if i only buy the hub's it will be alot cheaper
buchanan84 1 Posted February 15, 2006 yes you can change hubs without touching the bearing, it all comes off as 1 unit disconect ball joint on the bottom, track-rod end, driveshaft and the clamp round the suspension strut
butpug 0 Posted February 16, 2006 Has someone got "hubs" mixed up with "uprights" or have I gone bonkers?! Hubs rotate inside the upright, at least that is the conventional name given on most cars.

C_W 3 1 Cars Posted February 16, 2006 You just need to get 1.9 hubs with bearings in already, usually a 2nd hand hub from a breaker shouldl have a decent bearing in as that is what many people buy 2nd hand hubs for (saves buying a new bearing and having it pressed in etc). Kamel6k 1 Posted February 16, 2006 But with 1.9 hub's, ill need to change driveshafts to, right?
C_W 3 1 Cars Posted February 17, 2006 But with 1.9 hub's, ill need to change driveshafts to, right? Sorry getting confused here; I assumed you were just upgrading to 1.9 hubs to allow the brakes to fit? Surely this is the only option as non-gti hubs are for a totally different suspension setup aren't they?
