Anyone Really Know The Spec Of The Mi16 Touring Car Engine

Recommended Posts

We do Maxi....The differences are :-

35.5mm inlet valves I have them, Darren doesn't.

Standard head gasket on mine Darren has GRP A version.

I have tb's he has carbs.

No sump baffle on mine Darren does.

I've got 3500 miles on my engine and Darren's has over 60K.

Hi Rob,

I thought Daz engine was meant to be 240 BHP ?

I'm not starting a BHP debate, I'm just curious thats all. :)

Mine will probabaly be 240BHP on SBC's rollers....Both me and Daz know their rollers read high...

As a comparison I had a power figure for my 8v on Emerald rollers last June it made 141BHP @ flywheel in 4th gear and in September it made 136BHP @ wheels in 3rd gear on SBC's rollers. Note that the figures I 'm quoting are flywheel & wheels.

Darren's car was 207 @ wheels on SBC rollers...Which equates to 240ish..

The guys in France recon they have had 320bhp out of a 2.0 Mi16 on a dyno!!!

Touring car engines are limited on valve lift and RPM which resticts the power.

The engines are built for 10,000rpm even with a 8500rpm limit as they regulary get buzzed on the downshift (I've got a customer who used to do design work for BTCC engines)

And yes I can sell you a set of touring car spec cams. Sold a set just before xmas.

The Honda's that won the BTCC 3 years ago (maybe 4 now) were running Catcams :)
