Guest toby7 Posted January 12, 2006 Has anyone replaced the standard front seats in their 205 gti with lightweight sparco, momo or similar bucket seats. Is the job as simple as unbolting the seat from the tilt frame and bolting the new ones in place thereby retaining the tile foward feature ? If so the saving 25 - 30 kg would be good as well as gaining better feel of what the car is doing. Thanks Pete Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
pug_ham 242 3 Cars Posted January 12, 2006 The Sparco Ultra seats I have waiting to fit are base mounted to their subframe & this bolts directly to the floor after removing the old seat & subframe but if you want to keep the adjustability & rear seat access you could mount the new subframe onto the orignal subframe. sekim 0 Posted January 12, 2006 I've got sparco sprints, and got the universal fitting kit to go with them but it was rubish! The seats ended up waaaay to high and pressing the clutch was a real stretch as a result. It was as high, if not higher than standard! See http://www.saywell.net/~ms/seat.jpg I worked out that if I turned part of the supplied kit through 90 degrees and bolted it to some angle, which was in turn bolted to the floor then I could get it much lower. Rotated brackets: http://www.saywell.net/~ms/seat3.jpg New height of seat: http://www.saywell.net/~ms/seat2.jpg Of course the seat isn't adjustable any more, so I had to make sure I was happy with the position before drilling . This is all on the original seat mounts by the way. There is actually enough room to access the floor mountings either side of the sprints. So you could just bolt a plate across the bottom of the seat and then into the floor. If you wanted to keep some adjustment you could bolt the plate to the original sliders instead. SPGTi 2 Posted January 12, 2006 The best way to mount seats is to install proper bars and forget the std mounting points. Then use side mounts to mount the seats. Of course this means that there is no adjustment but while browsing ebay I came across this ad which seems a neat way of mounting the seats properly but having some easy back and forward adjustment Ebay ad Steve Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
pug_ham 242 3 Cars Posted January 13, 2006 Once mine are fitted in place they will be un-adjustable, the subframe on them has holes spaced along the edge & they will be bolted directly to the chassis similar to yours in the picture below seikm.
