Which conrods

Recommended Posts

mmt

Hi Guys

I have some unknown conrods. They are much similar to the Gti6 ones same length and looks the same.  However the pin dia. Is not 22 mm as on the gti6 ones but Only 20 mm.

it says 295 and AT on them.

I Only have two of Them and need two more.

Are they aftermarket forged and fully machined rods or stock looking ones?

GTi6 is pressed pin. Are yours pressed or floating (bushed).

They look oem stock. Can’t upload pictures. They look very similar to the gti6 ones.

I Only have the rod no pistons. Planning on going full floating 20 mm pin. There I a bronze bushing - 20 mm in dia, my pins (Ross pistons) fit perfectly.

They are probably stock rods that had bushings pressed on to use forged pistons with floating 20mm pins.

There is no PSA rod this size with fully floating piston pins.

Nothing sounds good about this. I assume the two rods you have are 2nd hand? In which case you'd need new bolts and they'll need a close & hone, if you're going to consider them "new". In which case, you may as well bush four GTi6 rods, fit with new bolts and close& hone anyway.

Is there any psa with 20 m pin dia? They look very factory. Not sleeved or new bushing. No drilled Hole for Oil.

The only PSA rods with this length are from the XU10J4RS and XU10J4R (similar but drilled on the big end).

Not having the oil hole means they are probably not stock rods.

would you recommend stilling holes for better oiling ?

On OEM applications 100%. On a race engine it depends, the rod could be "retired" before the bushing wears out and maybe that's why your rods are not drilled.

In any case Peugeot did ask to do it on the XU9JA rods for Gr.A racing.

Thanks. I’m not sure I understand your post - lost in translation. What do you mean by “retired”. It is for use in a race engine. My old rods had a 4 mm Hole - 3mm would be what I Would put into the smaller pin diameter ones.

any thoughts?

Factory XU9J4 and XU10J4 rods are drilled to supply oil to the bushings.

Asked the machine shop to drill them. They Said between 2.5 and 3 mm would do the job.

By "retired" I mean that the part is replaced after X hours or X races in case of fatigue failure.
