Disconnecting the ECU (Tu3m 1.4 CJ)

Recommended Posts

Hey guys!

I’m trying to troubleshoot the TPS step by step, as the car is hesitating and has an uneven idle. My next step is to check whether the TPS signal is actually reaching the ECU by measuring at the back/cable of the ECU, but it’s really difficult to get access. The ECU itself is easy to reach since it’s located in the glovebox, but there’s basically no slack in the wiring behind it, which makes it difficult to disconnect the plug, especially since I don’t recognize the locking mechanism.

So I could really use a bit more room where the wiring disappears behind the centre console.

My questions are:

1. How do I remove the centre console/panel to the right of the passenger’s knees?

2. What kind of locking mechanism is used to disconnect the plug from the ECU?

I’ve attached a couple of pretty bad photos, haha.

Any help would be much appreciated!

/Max

looks like you have the ecu free from its bracket, if so,  lift the clip then rotate the ecu whilst holding the plug

You mean like pull the locking clip (the silver thing) out upwards?
