Oe number 215097 clutch cable

Good morning. 

 

My 1989 1.6 gti, be1 gearbox, decided to snap it's clutch cable last night. Snapped at bulk head end. 

 

Oe number 215097.

 

I have been onto my local factors this morning looking for a replacement. 

Nothing seems to be readily available here in Ireland. 

 

I have found a Quinton hazell QCC 1322 on Parts in motion in UK but they don't/won't ship to Ireland.  

 

Does anybody know of where I can get my hands on a suitable replacement part?

 

First line FKC 1103 or Quinton as above. 

 

It is my 3rd clutch cable to be replaced in 25,000 miles.  Which is getting to be a worry too. 

 

Any help greatly appreciated.

your pressure plate springs have probably gone stiff with age, so I would put a new clutch in at the same time,  so I'd add a few more things to the order such as

Thanks for that welshpug. It is available on that site but they won't ship to Ireland. Due to the excessive size of the part........spare me!

 

On the Autodoc.ie it's coming up as unavailable. 

Very frustrating. 

 

Clutch was replaced for a new Luk one about 15,000 miles or less ago.

 

Thanks for the help though.

Will keep trawling sites on the lookout.

I would get in touch with them, hopefully a humans touch will help!    we get the same for large items in the uk, though I've never come across that for a clutch cable! 

 

  they are 1500mm long which I'd imagine is where the computer says no.

I added the cable to a few other parts in my basket and it accepted my order !

 

how very odd 

 

they do still have stock, it looks like my price was significantly lower than yours at £18 as well.

I ordered 2 that's what extra cost was. I said I'd better future proof.

 

It wouldn't ship outside the UK. 

I think (fingers crossed) that I have found a work around by using Addresspal. 

A postal service that provides you with a proxy Hatfield address and then redirects (at a somewhat reasonable charge) to my home address here in Ireland. 

 

I hope it works. Will keep you updated. Appreciate the help, as always.

had an email notification last night,  got a parcel coming from Tetrosyl which threw me for a second, them I remembered that they own the QH brand, and the cable is being shipped inside the uk even though I ordered it on Autodoc and the app stated sold by Autodoc.

I got a similar email last night. Also saying that it is coming from Tetrosyl. So at least the 1st part of my receiving it is done. 

Will keep you informed of it's complicated movements.

QH cables arrived. 

All good with shipment.  Cable fitting into bulkhead was slightly adjusted,  as it appeared to be cutting into opening slightly.  That may have been the cause of the very heavy clutch and snapping cables. 

Completely different feel to clutch now and pushing it is as light as a modern car.
