Tachymetric relay .... which?!

I have seen MTR02 modules with the 3 pin connector + the 2 "hidden" pins and part number 0 227 100 140. Maybe there is an error or maybe the MTR0* marking isn't that relevant.

My engine's out of the car at the moment, and all the associated looms are boxed away.

 

It would've been useful to see how many 'live' pins the female side of my module connector had (6 or 7).

 

The module in it is a Ducellier with 6 and if I could check it now you'd understandably expect the connector to be the same, but I've already found a long list of changes to my car, done by previous owners, some of which are still there and some of which have clearly been reversed.

 

Upshot is I can't take anything as granted or that what was there originally in 1989 still is.

 

Could keep going around in circles trying to decipher what's accurate and what's not on the various databases / resources, but going to draw a line under it for the time being, until I can see the complete set up that's in my car in front of me.

I bought my current relay, Hella, from ebay listed as for a Vauxhall Cavalier. Also compatible with Citroen XM. This was 2021 - £37.45.

Hard to make out from your image, but is that 4RP 008 189-041?

 

If it is, it's suitable for amongst others makes various Opel's - the Ascona being one of them, so presumably the Cavalier as well.

 

The Peugeot equivalent is 1452.05, so would expect it to have a '1' pin, unless you can show otherwise?

 

You'll also find the Wehrle / Meat & Doria 51 223 909 / 422011 cross reference to it.

I •think• its 4RP 008 189-041 (thought it might be 4RP 008 109-041) looking at the old printed ebay invoice, can't see at all from the screenshot or confirmation email (its from an old email account).

 

Sorry, not sure what you mean by '1' pin but it does seem to have a 1 at the top left pin location - from top down is 1 then 50 on the left, then centrally 87, 87b, 30 - then right is 15, 31.

Cheers... I think it's definitely 4RP 008 189-041, so far I can find no relevant references to the alternative you mention.

 

The '1' pin is the one you mention when listing them from top to bottom on your own relay, and the main cause of the confusion, that I can see.

 

The Hella relay with a 'TD' pin in place of the '1' is 4RP 008 189-111 (Peugeot 6555.22 equivalent).

 

Interesting for me is that your Cavalier compatible relay cross references to Lucas FDB501 (and TRW FDB501, which I'd put money on are one and the same, just branded differently).

 

Below is from Lucas's own catalogue, you'll see FDB501 is for Vauxhall's and other related cars, and the spec. appears to almost match FDB505 and 506 (for Peugeot's / Citroen's) except for the fall times.

 

FDB505/6 I believe is equivalent to Bosch 0 280 230 006 (Peugeot 1452.05)

 

Even though those appear negligible differences of just 10th's of a second, apparently they can matter (otherwise it begs the question, why else do they exist if not?)

 

I'm guessing you're successfully running 4RP 008 189-041?

Edit to the above... ignore Lucas FDB505, it has the 'TD' pin and therefore compatible with 6555.22.

 

So in theory it's potentially just Lucas FDB501 (if 'Soundguy' confirms it works fine) and FDB506 that are compatible with 1452.05 / 0 280 230 006.

 

(PS... The M&D 422011 relay was down to £29.50 on Autodoc yesterday, seems to regularly dip every couple of days or so if you're in the market for one.)
