Coolant level sensor

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

The coolant level sensor in my Phase 1 (white round) expansion tank has stopped working. I have taken it apart and it is not going to be repairable. There doesn’t appear to be a readily available direct replacement.

Has anyone found an alternative sensor that can be used as a replacement?

This is for my rally car and I can see that the aftermarket aluminium alternatives simply do away with this sensor. The car is obviously prepared and maintained as a competition car, so fluid checks are routinely carried out. I’m leaning towards blanking the tank off where the level sensor would fit. Thoughts please

isn't that level sender the same as the one used in the front right of the radiator in the Si (XU5) and maybe the later GTi also ?

if so, Serie04 sells em. it comes with a cap that screws onto the radiator

Is the plastic broken? Even the reed switch can be changed.

Or you could buy a new one:

There is also a blanking cap used on other Peugeot expansion tanks that should fit:

Thanks for the replies . I’ve now turned up an aluminium plug and used the original screw on cap to locate it.
